The Gifts of Imperfection and Digging Deep

I just finished my first book on the journey to loving myself more, The Gifts of Imperfection by Brené Brown and can I just point out what an amazing read this is? To sum it up Brown talks about authenticity and embracing the real you. Sounds easy right? It's really not. In this book Brown first talks about "The Gifts of Imperfection," Courage, Compassion, and Connection and how to apply these traits to your life. She also talks about being enough and the power of self-love. She then goes into things that get in your way and guideposts to try to gain in order to live wholeheartedly, with courage, compassion, and connection. These guideposts break down into:

Authenticity
Self-Compassion
Resilient Spirit
Gratitude and Joy
Intuition and Trusting Faith
Creativity
Play and Rest
Calm and Stillness
Meaningful Work
Laughter, Song and Dance

From this book I learned that in order to learn to love myself I need to be myself. All the time. And to hold myself accountable for the things I do that are not me being myself.  I learned I need to be compassionate towards myself and feel gratitude for what I have instead of only yearning for what I don't. I definitely recommend this book for anyone who wants to start loving themselves more as a first step in the right direction. I can't wait to get started on Brené Brown's other books in this group, Daring Greatly and Rising Strong.
